The Fair Trader Receive News and Information about our Fair Trade Program.

The CRS Fair Trade Program creates opportunities for you to bring the values of our faith to bear in the marketplace through your purchase of Fair Trade handcrafts, coffee and chocolate and your contributions to the Fair Trade Fund.

Not quite Accra, but we are officially on our way!

The Raise Money Right delegation is on its way to Ghana! We had a mostly uneventful trip to Amsterdam and are eager to get on our second leg to Accra, Ghana. “We” are those involved in the Fair Trade chocolate contests that CRS organized last year.

Elizabeth Cole from St. Austin’s Parish in Austin, TX created a “Five Minutes a Week for Fair Trade” curriculum, the winning entry. She was assisted by two University of Texas students, Laura Duca and Sarah Yanes, who are also traveling with us. They brought along their Diocesan Director, Barbara Budde, a great Texas contingent!

From Florida we have Steve White and his mom, Diana. Steve sold the most Fair Trade chocolate in the contest and is also an anti-poverty activist. Check out his website.

The delegation is rounded out with Fair Trade partner, Serena Sato of A Greater Gift and CRS Southeast program officer Martha Gaynoe. We’ll all check in via this blog as much as we can. Meantime, travel suggestions welcome…our colleagues at CRS Ghana have planned a full itinerary but we’d love to hear what others recommend.
