World Fair Trade Day is May 12

Thousands of people across dozens of countries use the second Saturday of May to celebrate World Fair Trade Day. What will you do this May 12 to participate?

Here at CRS we are proud sponsors of World Fair Trade Day in the USA! Lots is going on for us all month long, including our staff out West hosting a coffee farmer tour (see post below). I’ll be at CRS Partner A Greater Gift in New Windsor, Maryland on May 19 to sign copies of my book, Fair Trade: A Beginner’s Guide. Our Southwest office is hosting a Fair Trade Training for diocesan directors and parish leaders at St. Thomas University in Houston May 29 and 30th.

It is not too late for YOU to host a simple event like a coffee or chocolate tasting. The US organizers of World Fair Trade Day, FTRN, have lots of other great ideas for simple, fun activities, promoting this year’s theme: Kids need Fair Trade.

Then again, I’ve always liked that saying “Half of life is just showing up.” There are lots of community events that need your participation. Enjoy the day and enjoy May with Fair Trade!
