How CRS Secures Your On-Line Submissions

CRS utilizes the Internet security protocol known as “Secure Sockets Layer” or “SSL.” This is a certification and encryption technology designed to make using your credit card as safe as possible on the Internet. Verisign, CRS’ certifying authority, believes in this technology, and has warranted it against fraudulent use for up to $100,000.

The Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is a commonly used method for managing the security of a message transmission (such as a credit card submission or request for more information) on the Internet. SSL uses the “socket” method of passing data between a client (your PC) and a server (where the Web site resides). During message transit, SSL utilizes encryption technology to protect the information, as well digital certificates to verify the identity of the parties involved.

Developed by Netscape, SSL has gained the support of Microsoft and other Internet developers, and is now the defacto standard included within Microsoft and Netscape browsers.
